Q: When are the deadlines and entry fees for the Showcase?
A: There are several deadlines. The earlier you submit, the more you save.
Super Early – September 1, 2017
Early – October 13, 2017
Regular, Round 1 – November 24, 2017
Regular, Round 2 – January 5, 2018
Regular, Round 3 – February 16, 2018
Late Deadline – March 30, 2018
Extended Deadline April 27, 2018
Notifications will be released by mid June.
Entry fees vary, depending on when you submit and the length of your project. Submit early and save.
Q: What categories/genres do you accept?
A: We’ll consider just about anything – except hardcore sexual activity. (There may be children present)
Beyond that, we’re just looking for excellent films. Horror, Drama, Comedy, Animated, etc. We’ll consider it all. Except for…well – look at the first line again.
Q: Can I submit more than one film?
A: Absolutely! You can submit as many films as you want. Just complete a separate submission for each film.
Q: Do you accept television pilots?
A: Sure – just submit it as a short or a feature film, depending on the length.
Q: Are you only accepting submissions online?
A: Right now, yes. We accept submissions through FilmFreeway and Withoutabox.

Q: What should I include with my submission?
A: Nothing. Just complete the submission, pay the fee and provide a link to your film.
Q: What formats do you accept for screening?
A: DVD – NTSC Region 1, Blu-Ray, or Digital files (MPEG-4 or MOV)
Q: How will I receive notification that my film has been successfully submitted?
A: Once you complete the submission process on FilmFreeway.com you will see immediately that your submission was successful. .
If you submit via Withoutabox you will see that your project is in consideration once we verify payment and the presence of the screening copy.
The programming director checks for new submissions several times per day, so typically, you can verify a successful submission within 24 hours.
Q: I submitted my film last year, am I eligible to resubmit the same film?
A: Yes, if it did not screen last year. However, you should only do this if you have made significant changes to the film.
Q: Must I have obtained all rights for music and other copyrighted material in my film?
Q: When will I hear about results?
A: We will notify the filmmakers and announce the official selections beginning on May 31, 2018. All notifications should be completed by mid-June 2018
Q: Are there awards?
A: There will be an awards ceremony during the final evening of the Fort Worth Indie Film Showcase. It’s a lot of fun. Please plan to attend.
Q: If I submit my film to competition and it is accepted, how many screenings will there be at the Showcase? Will I receive any tickets or passes?
A: You should expect your film to screen once if it is accepted. Each filmmaker who submits receives one (1) all access pass to FWIFS. Each accepted Filmmaker receives two (2) all access passes. Additional passes for project participants will be available for purchase at a discounted.
Q: Will my film submission be returned?
A: DVDs and press materials will not be returned via mail. If you attend the showcase and you want your materials back, we understand. Just ask and we’ll hand them over.
Q: What if the DVD/BluRay or file I send you doesn’t play?
A: That’s called the nightmare scenario. We want to avoid that all all costs. If possible, please try your disc on a couple of machines before you send it, on both traditional consumer players and computers. Format your DVD so that the film just starts playing as soon as it is in the player/computer [this is called FIRST PLAY], avoid menus and trailers and such. If we cannot get the film to play on our end, we will contact you for a new copy. Just in case, bring a copy of your film with you. If you submit your screener as a digital file, still bring a backup disc or flash drive in case there are problems with the file.
